Exuberance experiments with papyrus acquired on a trip to Egypt, and with cast paper an Egyptian artist gave me in a studio visit. The gestures at the bottom of the piece trace the groves beetles make in fallen trees, a favorite motif of my friend Jill Romanoke. I collected the shell on the beach in Monterey, California.
